LOWER RIVER
I am thrilled to announce that I have officially signed with Deutsche Grammophon for my solo works. My debut album, Lower River, was reissued September 22nd across all streaming platforms.
Conceptually, Lower River explores the place where time, space, and self are occluded — what it means to hear versus to listen; to immerse oneself in navigating the subconscious.
“Glyph III,” a new track created specifically for the 2023 reissue, is an evolved expression of the album’s discrete textural language and thematic through-lines. Continuing to explore a merging of the acoustic and the electronic, it slowly, spaciously teases out a tension between the tactility of the human hand and synthetic manipulation through lush Mellotron and Juno set against resonant woodwinds and airy strings. Jonathan Sielaff, who also performs on “Elyria,” returns on bass clarinet, paired with layered harmonics from avant bassist Spencer Zahn.
